SURVIVORS
Where can your feet take you?
Can you survive?
How will you deal with it?
My friends and I planned to hike and we chose Mt. Ulap which is located at Ampucao, Itogon, Benguet. We chose Mt. Ulap because we want to experience touching the clouds in the summit and we want also to see the most featured rock which they called Gungal Rock.
One of my friend has a car and we used that to go to the Barangay Ampucao to register and pay for our fees.
Entrance Fee: Regular - 100.00
Student - 50.00
Guide Fee : 600.00
Note: Bring your I.d. for students
If you don't have your own car you can take a commute going to Barangay Ampucao. In front of the Center Mall, you can ride a jeepney going to Ampucao and you will get off at Ampucao Elementary School.
Before we start our hike, we buy first our foods at the court because there are many stalls who are selling some foods.
Our tour guide calls our attention and he already starts the orientation. After how many minutes, its all done.
At last, we are already going to start our day hike.
On our way going up, it's very backbreaking that i can no longer breath so i need to ask the tour guide to rest a little. After resting, we already continued hiking and we already reached the 1st peak which they called Ambanao Paoay, Ambanao means wide. When i saw the view, my weary was lost, the view is very beautiful, its very amazing.
From the first peak, we went through a very steep descent which took about 20 meters. After which we went on to pass through several slopes until we reached the most featured Gungal Rock. It is called Gungal Rock because of the rocks in that place has many shapes and structures. We eat first our lunch before we take a picture on the famous Gungal Rock. While eating, I was thinking, do i have the guts and confident to go at the edge of the rock. You know what; the rock doesn't have a flat area to walk in. Can you imagine the half of a triangle? That is its shape. I'm done eating my lunch and I am ready to go at the edge of the rock. I don't know what happened to me but when i step at its edge, i discovered that i am not afraid of heights, all i can feel is the adrenaline rushing through me. When I was there, my daredevil side told me to go at the tip of the rock and hang my feet. So, I did but our tour guide said that, what i did was prohibited because its dangerous. Anyways, that was very exciting and because of that rock, i discovered that i am not afraid of heights. I am done taking a picture with the rock when many tourists came and they already fall in line to go and take a picture with me(Joke) with the rock while my friends are still eating. So, they were not able to take their pictures. We already continued our hike going to the 3rd peak or to the summit.

Going to the summit? Oh my God, its very difficult for me, i thought i'm gonna die but thanks I survived because i am taking my rest and of course with the help of water.
This was the last peak and the air is refreshing, my weary was lost when i saw these clouds. I was very happy because i hiked 8km of the mountain and that serves as an achievement to me. When I was there, i already lie on the grass and feel its breeze. On camp site 2, there's a huge grassland where you can see cows.
